What is a Debate?

[Summary]

 Debate Topic : Resolution or Motion

In every debate round, a topic is given. It is called 'resolution' or 'motion'.

 Two sides : Pros/ Cons

The team that agrees with the topic is called pros, proposition, or affirmative team.

The other team that disagrees with the topic is called cons, opposition, or negative team.

 Judge

The one who decides the winner of a debate round is called the judge or adjudicator.
(one ~ three judges for each round)

They evaluate all the speakers of each team and give speaker points and comments on a ballot sheet. The ballots show the result.

 Champion

Winner coming in first place in a debate tournament.

 Top Speaker

Regardless of the debate team, the speaker who got the highest speaker points from the judges during the all preliminary rounds.

I knew what is a debate, but not correctly. After reading this article, I could learn what is debate's definition.
